another couple of hours and this has progressed this far(are we there yet?!)
it is looking pretty good though
and in the meantime, the first sleeve on the Christmas sweater knitting is finished -- maybe -- I followed the pattern worked the cuff and I'm not sure I like it because it may not be tight enough, and I'm not sure it's long enough for the recipient's taste either -- but I have decided to go ahead and knit the second sleeve, make the changes on that one and then decide -- fixing the cuff won't be hard because I haven't woven in the ends yet
