Ta Da!
Had a busy day yesterday. Finished the lap quilt for the DH......not a standard size, he wanted it extra long, but that's okay with me. Nice thing about this one, no $$ spent. Used fabric from the stash (even for the back!), yarn left over from another project, and the batting was on hand. NICE!
Also worked on the drawing for the icon piece that we've been designing. The bead order arrived too.....just love getting a bead order, all those wonderful tubes and bags of color just waiting to be combined into something. The icon will be about 3 inches by 5 inches when it is finished, all bead embroidery except the faces which I will be creating from polymer clay.
Need to spend time today packing things for the DDs move......

Two down, a bizzillion to go?
Have now finished two of the beaded leaves.....they look pretty good! These are size 11 delicas, I may try a few in size 15 delicas (smaller beads!) just for an assortment of sizing......
Ok, need to spend some time tying the "replacement" quilt today.....time is getting short for getting that done.
Hi, ho, hi, ho, its off to work we go.........(exits humming) ;^)

The better for them to see you with.....
yes, they now have faces! Glass beads for eyes, the wings and ears and feet are on.....aren't they cute!?
Now, there is the issue of tiny little earmuffs for the bear and the scarf for the penguin......off I go to the yarn and knitting needles for the scarf.......still thinking how to do earmuffs that little......
Meantime, yesterday I stitched together the top for a lap quilt. Seems my daughter wants hers back for her new apartment, so I need to make a replacement for her dad to use.....
Off to work I go......

Half a leaf....

Faceless, footless, earless, wingless.....
....but recognizable as a bear and a penguin (I hope!)......the little Ice Buddies are taking shape. Each one of them is now filled with steel shot (in the bottoms, so they don't fall over on their noses) and fiberfil. Next step....faces, feet, ears, wings....and accessories!
Meantime, I started working again on a very complex jewelry piece made up of leaves that are both seed beads and silver. The silver leaves are basically done, but I need to make about 40 of the beading leaves in browns, reds, oranges, yellows and pale greens.....got to love those delicas!
Some accomplishments to be noted for last week: I finished a quilt I had been working on for over 2 years, its a king size pieced one with 12 different Santa blocks. Now I can start another one that's been "brewing".
Back to "work"!

New projects.....
Just to keep life interesting, now I'm working on a piece for a bear competition.
We started off with a little drawing for the idea, now I have the pieces sewn for the two little animals (the bear is only 5" tall).
Today its on to putting in joints (in the penguin's neck) and filling them with steel shot and fluff.
Isn't art fun!?

It's Done!!

The fight goes on....
This piece just might fly across the room before I get it done....sometimes art can be frustrating!
Started in on the edging of the thing last night, got about a third of the fringe on....hated the way it looked....picked it out. Worked more, about a quarter of the new style fringe on.....hated that too.....
Spent the rest of the evening working on a quilt instead.....new ideas today. Sigh!

First time out
Well, here it is, the very first post on a blog. Guess an "old dog" can learn new tricks! This is going to be where I can talk about what I'm working on in the studio and other "arty" things.
