officially Super Woman

Saturday evening was the charity auction -- I had spent a hectic week getting ready --

Tuesday evening moving all of the items to the facility

Wednesday sorting and organizing and working on the bid sheets

Thursday finishing the bid sheets and creating the data base file and the auction catalog

Friday actually setting up the items -- creating baskets from assemblages of "stuff", making them look attractive -- then putting things on the tables so attendees could see what they were and make their bids

Saturday morning I went over and finished up the last three baskets --

and Saturday evening, the auction -- and what a wild ride that was!

this year I had decided that after the bidding was over and the information had gone to the data entry people I wanted to be able to have my crew of teenagers be able to start putting together bundles of items that had been won by a bidder so we could have those ready to go right out the door when they came with their receipts, so I had created a 2 part NCR form -- the top copy went to the data people and the 2nd copy stayed with us to do that bundling

and then the data base crashed

the data entry people tried to rebuild it to no avail -- it was dead (and so were the printers)

the data people thought we would have to do bundling one by one as people came with their bidder numbers and we would be at it for a long time -- au contrair -- we were ready -- items had already been bundled by bidder number and my crew knew where they were because we had arranged them in numeric sequence on the tables

(give me a crew of willing teenagers and I can rule the world! I've always been good at working with them, and I just don't get why people insist they are 1) bad people and 2)hard to work with! they're just younger people!! and if you treat them with respect and the knowledge that they are smart and have good ideas too, you can't go wrong)

the cashiers were able to create the necessary sales slips and receipts from our bundles so we could collect the money and the people could have their stuff -- problem solved

I'm sure the final accounting is going to be a nightmare for the folks doing that, but I feel really good that my wanting to make my job easier actually saved the day in the end

and I'm glad the auction is done!

Sunday I spent hanging out with my daughter

her friend Amanda and I are giving her a baby shower, and we wanted to make the invitations

the three of us created 25 of the invitations and then 24 coordinated thank you notes for her to use after the shower too

and the curtains and valance that I stitched up for the nursery got hung too

the nursery is coming together nicely

then in the afternoon my daughter, the DH and I went to the furniture store and got the DH a new chair -- the springs in the seat of his are breaking, so it was time -- especially since he'll need it when they "fix" his shoulder (he has the appointment with the specialist next Monday)

yesterday I took all of my stuff to Lambspun for the November and December Holiday Market they are doing

the folks in there were super -- and they really liked my stuff

they'll let me know if my things are selling so I can send along more stuff to keep my little area full (and the owner said she was going to be doing a little preview shopping in my stuff before it even goes out on display -- nice!)

while we were in there I bought two pattern leaflets -- one for this very cool hat, and one for these slippers

both of these are knit first then felted -- I'd like to give them a try

so today I'm trying to get things put away and do laundry and get started on the items with the next deadlines -- the baby quilt is being quilted, the blue planet piece for the Dream Rocket project needs to get put into the que next as it is due on December 1, and the knitting for fencing projects continue (I'm half way through hat number 2)

time to get to it
